Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

This warrior group includes Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.

Fans can expect learning which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
